Following the recent announcement by the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to adopt the Pan-European Public Procurement (Peppol) interoperability framework, ABSIA are now able to share more information about our prior engagement with OpenPeppol, the non-profit association that maintains the Peppol standards.
ABSIA, and a number of our Members, have been closely involved with the trans-Tasman e-invoicing initiative and earlier this year, our Vice President and e-invoicing lead, Simon Foster, attended a private meeting together with Singapore's IMDA and OpenPEPPOL representatives in Singapore. In this meeting, Simon was able to share Australia and New Zealand's e-invoicing experience and get further information about OpenPeppol. He was also able to attend an OpenPeppol training seminar and these training materials can now be shared with Members.
ABSIA believes the move to Peppol standards is a good outcome for our industry given the opportunities it presents for local software developers to export our technology and the similarities between the DBC and Peppol standards.
Moving forward, ABSIA will be arranging Peppol training for Members and continue to share information. We will also be participating in the ATO's 'Peppol eInvoicing Engagement ' on 10 April along with other industry representatives. We are also sending a representative, ABSIA Member Rick Harvey from Layer Security, to the OpenPeppol General Assembly in Brussels which will be held on 27 and 28 March 2019.
The Peppol training material along with Simon's notes will be available through the e-invoicing SIG on our .
