Virtual AASV-IASB Q&A Session

The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) is hosting a virtual Q&A session on IFRS18: Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements (AASB18), which will replace IAS 1 Presentation of Financial Statements (AASB 101) from January 2027 for for-profit entities and January 2028 for not-for-profit and superannuation entities. The session is on 31 October from 1.00pm - 2.30pm AEDT. Find out more about the event and register here

Inspector-General of Tax and Tax Ombudsman Draft Work Plan 2024-25

The Inspector-General of Tax and Tax Ombudsman (IGTO) has published their draft work plan for reviews over the next 12 months. The IGTO is taking a new approach to systematic reviews, undertaking more frequent, shorter, sharper and more focused reviews. Access the draft work plan for 2024-25 here

New Occupation Classifications Announced

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Statistics New Zealand (Stats NZ) have released a joint media statement announcing that each country will introduce their own tailored occupational statistical classifications while maintaining comparability. The new Australian classification will be called the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA), and version 1.0 will be released on Friday 6 December 2024. The New Zealand classification is proposed to be released on 20 November 2024 and is expected to be named the National Occupation List (NOL). Payment Times Reporting Amendments

The Payment Times Reporting Amendment Act 2024 and Payment Times Reporting Rules 2024 recently commenced in September. The new rules will require reporting entities to include the proportion of payments related to Peppol-enabled eInvoices in a reporting period. Alongside these changes, the Regulator has released a new and improved interactive register. Learn more here
